What do I need to get started?
A modern browser with JavaScript enabled and a finished WAV. VOID supports compatible WAV files subject to available browser memory. Large or high-resolution files require more memory and may be safely refused on lower-memory devices. Open Studio and use the file picker or drop one track onto the import area. Start with local Auto, then compare and refine.
Why is live Processed playback unavailable?
Live processing needs AudioWorklet and a secure context: HTTPS or localhost. Original playback and offline rendering may still work when live preview is unavailable. Check the status message and browser audio permissions.
What is the difference between the playback controls?
Play Original auditions the source. Play Processed auditions the current live chain. Play Rendered auditions the completed checked render from the beginning. The separate Compare buttons preserve playback position and can match measured loudness.
Where did my rendered master go?
Changing a processing setting invalidates the old render so you cannot compare against stale measurements. Run Auto or Render & Export again. Undo Auto restores the previous chain and quality settings.
Why can’t I export MP3?
MP3 needs mono or stereo at 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz. Choose WAV for other source formats. The app does not resample or downmix. PCM and MP3 export reject samples outside their encoding range; lower the output or use the render ceiling check.
How does optional AI work?
AI is currently administrator-only and requires a configured connection and explicit consent for each track. It receives the disclosed measurements, context and direction, never audio. Provider errors or exhausted limits do not prevent local Auto or manual mastering.
Can I save my work?
Save Chain downloads your processing settings as a local JSON file. Load Chain restores them. It does not save or upload audio. Keep your source file and exports: Try one complimentary guest master without an account. Invited Early Access testers receive unlimited local mastering during the testing period. Invited testers can also save private projects. Closing or reloading the page ends the in-memory audio session.
How do I stop a long operation?
Choose Cancel operation. Reset or selecting another file also cancels pending work. A provider request already sent may still count against AI usage. For large tracks, allow time for local processing and avoid other CPU-heavy tabs.
The meters look different from my DAW. Why?
VOID uses its own local measurement implementation, including estimated 4× true peak. Short files have provisional loudness-range readings. Device-rate preview and source-rate exports can differ. Measurements are useful guides, not a certification of mastering quality.
Can I reduce animation?
Use Calm visuals in the studio. Operating-system reduced-motion preferences are also respected. Measured visualizers and playback position still convey audio information.
