THE VOID FIELD GUIDE / PRACTICAL MASTERING

Make your first master with Auto.

Use a measured starting point, listen critically and keep control of the result.

0.14 studio update. Current studio: choose Low, Medium or High and a tone from Warmer to Brighter, then Master my track. The Natural, Warm and Punchy style controls described below remain in Advanced mode. Tone refinements reuse an existing AI recommendation locally; a new AI direction needs another explicit request.

Before you start: open the current VOID studio in a modern browser. These instructions describe the development release and use locally generated demonstration audio in screenshots.

What Auto does

Auto uses local audio measurements to propose a bounded processing chain. It is deterministic processing, separate from the optional online AI feature. It does not listen like an engineer or know your artistic intent. Treat the result as a starting point to audition.

Import a mono or stereo WAV first. You can also use the generated demo to learn the controls; that signal demonstrates the interface and is not a real commercial mix.

01 / Choose a direction

Choose Natural, Warm or Punchy and set the intensity. Begin conservatively. Run Auto and let its analysis and candidate rendering finish. The workflow checks the candidate before applying it, so allow processing time for longer tracks.

02 / Compare fairly

Listen to the processed version, then use the loudness-matched comparison to reduce the bias toward whichever version is louder. Compare transients, vocal clarity, low-end balance and stereo focus. A larger loudness number is not a quality score.

03 / Refine or undo

Use Undo Auto if the result is not right. Switch to Advanced to inspect the individual processors and make smaller changes. Changing the chain invalidates an earlier checked render; render again before treating output measurements as current.

If you cancel, wait for the interface to return to a usable state before starting another operation. Keep your original file and export a chain file when you want a portable settings copy.

Keep learning

Compare the sound, not just the volume.

Render it. Check it. Then commit.
